Student Health Insurance at UWC
To ensure students have access to comprehensive health coverage, UWC automatically charges Student Health Insurance to eligible student accounts when the criteria below are met.
Students may opt to waive UWC Health Insurance by providing proof of active coverage for the full academic year by the waiver deadline.

✅ Waivers are processed and certified by Aetna for UWC.

❌ F-1/J-1 Visa students cannot waive coverage and must enroll in the UWC Health Plan.
Automatic Enrollment Criteria
A student will be automatically charged for health insurance if they meet any of the following:

Undergraduate students taking 12 or more credits in the Fall semester.

New undergraduate students (not enrolled in Fall) taking 12 or more credits in the Spring semester.

Graduate students taking 9 or more credits in the Fall semester.

New graduate students (not enrolled in Fall) taking 9 or more credits in the Spring semester.

Any student marked as “Forced Full Time.”

Any student with a Visa status of F-1 or J-1.

Effective Dates of Health Insurance Coverage
UWC student health insurance coverage begins based on the semester of enrollment.
Full Academic Year (Purchased in Fall Semester)
Coverage Period:
August 21, 2025 – August 20, 2025
Spring Semester Only (New Students Only)
Coverage Period:
January 19, 2025 – August 20, 2025
